URGENT EMPLOYMENT NOTICE

 
 

Caritas Bangladesh (CB) is a national and non-profit development organization operating in Bangladesh since 1967. It has its Central Office in Dhaka and eight Regional Offices in Barisal, Chittagong, Dhaka, Dinajpur, Khulna, Mymensingh, Rajshahi and Sylhet. CB is implementing 87 on-going projects covering  209 upazila focusing on six main priorities i.e i) Social Welfare and Community Development, ii) Quality Education, iii) Health Care and Education, iv) Disaster Management, v) Ecological Conservation and Development and vi) Development of Indigenous Peoples.

Caritas Bangladesh (CB) is looking for suitable candidate (men and women) for immediate appointment as well as to prepare panel list for Emergency Response Program and Provision of Site and Shelter support for Rohingya from Northern Rakhine State of Myanmar in Bangladesh Project under Caritas Chittagong Region supported by UNHCR.

1.

Position: Program Officer (Shelter)

 

Age: Maximum 45 years

 

Job Location: Ukhia/Teknaf/ Cox’s Bazar

 

Salary : Tk. 50,000-60,000 (Consolidated) per month.

Number of Position: 1

  • Masters or equivalent degree preferably in Disaster Science and Management, Social Sciences or relevant field from any recognized  university.
  • Professional qualification or Diploma in the Civil Engineering will be an added value.
  •  Minimum 3 years of experience in leading DRR component.
  • Willingness to travel to project area to ensure the implementation of the accounting practices and policies.
  • Should be self driven and positive to work in a team.
  • Strong verbal and written. English communication skills.
  • Knowledge on local language will be given preference.
  • Responsible for the overall monitoring and timely and effective implementation Shelter related activities of projects.
  • Field visit to the project areas regularly for close monitoring as well as verify the qualities and quantities of the activities.
  • Guide Field Officers/Site Engineers for implementation of shelter, site development and community mobilization activities.
  • Maintain team spirit among the staff members and keep linkage with other operational areas.
  • Prepare drawing, design, cost estimate and analyze of rates for shelter, site development and other infrastructure construction works.
  • Maintain effective liaison with related stakeholders.
  • Assist Team Leader-Project to prepare the reports for the project.
  • Assist in maintaining trackers for budget monitoring, level of effort utilization.

2.

Position: Field Officer

 

Age: Maximum 45 years

 

Job Location: Ukhia/Teknaf/ Cox’s Bazar

 

Salary :Tk. 50,000 (Consolidated) per month.

Number of Position: 7

  • Bachelor degree or diploma in civil engineering
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience of which three (3) working in the field of rural temporary housing (shelter), DRR, site development, and/or rural infrastructure development component.
  • Experience working with an international NGO in rural temporary housing (shelter) and settlement programs strongly desired, particularly, rural temporary housing (shelter) up gradation, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion programs, water and sanitation infrastructure construction and / or rehabilitation, contractor supervision.
  • Knowledge of minimum Shelter &Settlementand WASH standards (e.g. Sphere).
  • Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point). Autocad is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel to project area to ensure the implementation of the accounting practices and policies.
  • Should be self driven and positive to work in a team.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Knowledge on local language will be given preference.
  • Assist communities to develop site improvement plans and to provide technical supervision.
  • Organize and oversee the construction of demonstration rural temporary housing (shelter)and for vulnerable households.
  • Provide training to field staff and monitor standards of construction and work.
  • Undertake field visits to monitor the progress and quality of project implementation.
  • Support the supervisors in survey of ongoing projects; review and crosscheck data to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist Team Leader and Program Officer for preparing technical drawing, BoQ, etc.
  • Assist when required in any research to develop more durable rural temporary housing (shelter).Communicate with Majhees and CiC for hiring laborers and implementation of project activities.
  • Take account of gender, protection, the environment, and other important cross-cutting concerns in program design, implementation, and reporting; carry out activities in a way that reflects the needs of specific groups and individuals e.g. elderly people, children, and people with disabilities.
  • Assist in the preparation of daily, weekly or other progress reports of the projects for donors, Government and Caritas.
  • Represent Caritas when needed for various meetings, seminars, workshops arranged by various NGOs and Government.
  • Work as a team member of Caritas team and extend services to other team members when required.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities when directed by the Authority of Caritas in the interest of the Organization.

Position: Assistant Accounts Officer

 

Age: Maximum 45 years

 

Job Location: Ukhia/Teknaf/ Cox’s Bazar

 

Salary : Tk. 35,000/- (Consolidated) per month.

  • B. Com / BBA (Hons.) in Accounting, preference will be given for M. Com/ MBA in Accounting/Finance from any recognized University.
  • Minimum three years of hands on experience in the similar job.
  • Experience in maintaining accounts and financial reporting of projects funded by UNHCR institutional donor/foundation shall be an added value.
  • Knowledge on computerized accounting system, ICT particularly on MS Excel, MS Word (both Bangla & English), etc., is essential. Capable to operate Tally-Accounting Software will be an added qualification.
  • Must be capable of handling and managing Accounts, Audit, VAT, Project Costs, Income Tax matters, etc.
  • Capable of in preparation of budgets, budgetary control and financial reports.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with partners/beneficiaries to ensure compliance.
  • Willingness to travel to project area to ensure the implementation of the accounting practices and policies.
  • Should be self driven and positive to work in a team.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Knowledge on local language will be given preference.
  • Maintain books of accounts of the project and ensure smooth functioning of the accounting systems and record keeping pertaining to the project.
  • Store and preserve all the valuable and necessary documents and records related to project accounting.
  • Maintain Accounting Software and update regular posting, where necessary.
  • Report on daily cash balance.
  • Maintain Fixed Asset Register and stock registers of Project.
  • Preserve all project related documents/ records/ data including hard and soft copy back-up.
  • Assist Finance Officer to prepare annual budget, budget control and financial monitoring.
  • Regularly update information (accounting) and book keeping as per accepted principals of Project Memorandum, agreement and rules of Caritas Bangladesh.
  • Assist and cooperate Internal and External audit of the Project.
  • Travel to project areas to ensure the implementation of the accounting practices and policies.
  • Support for administrative affairs of the project specially with regard to the procurement of goods, materials, equipment and staff matters.
  • Responsible to organize meetings, conferences and workshops as per  the request from team.

Any other responsibility which has been given by the higher authority, you should be responsible to do it.

*The selected candidates will be appointed on temporary basis for four months which may be extended for future period. Age and academic qualification may be relaxed for the highly experienced candidates. Candidate from Ukhia/Teknaf/ Cox’s Bazar will be given preference.
