This role is for ensuring emergency support to the Rohingya as part of Christian Aid’s emergency programme.

About the role
Christian Aid is working together with our partners in Bangladesh on humanitarian and development projects for over 3 decades. Christian Aid is now seeking a motivated Accountability Specialist to work with a three-member consortium led by Christian Aid (pending funding) to roll out a comprehensive accountability system in Jamtoli and advocating for improved humanitarian accountability across the entire Rohingya response in the Cox’s Bazar area. The Accountability Specialist will also provide technical guidance across all of Christian Aid’s Rohingya response, ensuring adherence to Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS). The Accountability Specialist will also lead on engagement with relevant clusters and provide technical guidance to ensure the accountability systems link with protection, PSEA and other sectors, and to mainstream advocacy. The role will have a significant focus on the Core Humanitarian Standards four (rights) and five (complaint mechanisms), while feeding into one (appropriateness) and seven (learning). The incumbent will be managing 2-3 partner organisations. The position requires extensive consultation with relevant stakeholders, particularly communities, partner organisations, humanitarian responders, UN agencies and relevant authorities.

About you
Candidates need to have a bachelor’s degree in social science or related field preferably in a development-humanitarian related discipline and understanding of humanitarian and accountability issues. Should possess kknowledge of and experience in communicating with communities, including specific experience focused on accountability. Clear understanding of the Core Humanitarian Standards with demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity. The incumbent should have staff management experience. At least five years’ experience working with an NGO and/or INGO. To be successful in this role nuanced communications skills appropriate for communicating with communities across ethnic and gender differences, and with diverse stakeholders is fundamental. Sensitivity and discretion is an integral part of this role as the person will be handling sensitive information and dealing with sensitive issues on a regular basis
