About us

More than half the world lives in poverty.  Poverty is an outrage against humanity.  It robs people of dignity, freedom and hope, of power over their own lives.  Christian Aid has a vision – an end to poverty – and we believe that vision can become a reality.  We are striving to bring lasting change to the lives of the poorest communities.  We work wherever there is great need, helping people to find their own solutions to the problems they face, irrespective of their religion, caste or creed.  If you’re passionate about positive change across the world, then this job might be for you.

Christian Aid is working with its partners in Bangladesh to achieve its goal of ending poverty.  We are committed to expose the scandal of poverty and to help in practical ways through our programme, partnerships, campaign and advocacy to root it out from the world.  We work with our partners to challenge and change the system that favours the rich and powerful over the poor and marginalized. Christian Aid (CA) has been working in Bangladesh since 1972. We are recognized for our work on emergency response programme, climate change, disaster risk management, gender equality and human rights issues. This role is to support Christian Aid’s advocacy and capacity building initiatives in Bangladesh.

We are looking for a person who is already working in an international/national organisation as a manager/officer or within a team having experience in similar area in Bangladesh or any other country.  You’ll see this as an excellent opportunity to contribute to the advocacy and capacity building component and to engage with multi-stakeholder partnerships and consortium members. The Programme Officer- Advocacy and Capacity Building for Christian Aid’s Bangladesh country office will support donor and core funded programming around resilience, advocacy and capacity building. He/she is expected to provide technical expertise in these areas. The role holder will be representing Christian Aid in meetings and networks.  The role holder will closely work with the Christian Aid team in Dhaka to achieve the targets and objectives of two donor funded projects.

S/he will need to take on challenges to ensure a rapid, effective and timely response, holding overall responsibility for project achievements and results.

About The role

We are looking for candidate with a high level of commitment to bring transformational changes to the lives of poor communities.  The incumbent is expected to possess a post graduate degree in social science from any reputed university in development studies, anthropology, sociology, international relations or any other relevant field with at least five years’ experience working in local and/international partner organizations. S/he should have substantial and relevant programme management experience.  Other essentials are experience of implementing programmes through a partnership approach; good knowledge of managing program interventions independently, experience in programme appraisal, monitoring and evaluation; training and capacity building, excellent IT skills and language skills in English and Bangla.
