Roles and Responsibilities
Purpose
- Support the implementation of project outreach and advocacy activities, including identifying target stakeholders, evaluating their information needs and potential engagement opportunities
- Develop communication collateral and engagement materials to support policy advocacy campaigns and strategies and individual stakeholder engagement opportunities
- Manage media inquiries from Bangladesh and the region, with strict adherence to approved project guidelines for media engagement
Engagement
- Working together with the Healthier Rice Team at IRRI Dhaka Office and Senior Liaison Officer-based at BRRI, support the development and implementation of the project communication and stakeholder engagement plan of the Healthier Rice Program in Bangladesh:
- Identify opportunities to engage with key stakeholders
- Prepare the necessary communication support and coordinate engagement activities with key stakeholders
- Collaborate with the Healthier Rice Program team to ensure timely delivery of communication materials that are appropriate for each stage of the project
- Develop and sustain relationships with relevant stakeholders in Bangladesh using an appropriate mix of traditional and social media as well as interpersonal touchpoints
- Work closely with consultants, advisors, suppliers, vendors, etc. to align initiatives and ensure delivery of commitments
- Keep internal and external partners up-to-date on the status of the project and ensure that their communication needs are met
- Support general communication needs of BRRI as required up to a maximum of 10% of time allocation.
Delivery
- Support the planning of potential engagements within the nutrition, biotechnology and poverty alleviation communities in Bangladesh as well as other key stakeholder groups
- Prepare approved key messages and keep them up-to-date across all platforms (print, digital, etc.)
- Write/edit the FAQs, news, feature stories, scripts, and other content for use across multiple channels/platforms (printed materials, website, social media, etc.) on the project’s status, milestones, events, and the like, for policy advocacy campaigns/strategies
- Support the development and popularization of communication materials to target audiences and media, as appropriate.
- Contribute to the preparation of project documents, international refereed journal articles, progress reports, project proposals, concept notes, audit reports, and other publications
- Monitor traditional and social media for coverage of stories related to healthier rice and other topics related to the project
- Collect data and other relevant inputs for the preparation of the regular media monitoring and stakeholder engagement reports
- Assist in the maintenance of database of local media contacts, stakeholder profiles, and other project documents
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Agricultural Science, or related fields with minimum 6 years of relevant work experience; or
- Master’s degree in Communication, Agricultural Science, or related field with minimum 4 years of relevant work experience
Skills Required
Mandatory
- Experience working or liaising with partners and stakeholders, including national government ministries and agencies, local government, non-government organizations, and media
- Good understanding of biotechnology, agriculture, and nutrition concepts and substantial experience packaging and disseminating communication materials through several channels
- Excellent English and Bengali written and oral communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Pro-active and reliable
- Team player and highly collaborative
Preferred
- Advanced MS Office applications skills and substantial experience using design software
- Advanced social media experience (SEO content development), engagement, and monitoring skills
- Communication research skills such as conducting interviews, content analysis, etc. an advantage

Salary Ranges: BDT 40,000 Monthly salary and two festival bonus |
