Platforms for Dialogue (P4D): Design Agency Required

Background to Platforms for Dialogue

Bangladesh has made remarkable progress in economic and social development since independence in 1971. Now it recognises the need to strengthen governance systems, to decentralise, and to increase citizens’ participation so as to promote both further inclusiveness in Bangladesh’s growth and to consolidate the democratic process.

Platforms for Dialogue (P4D) is a three-year programme established in partnership between the Cabinet Division and the European Union Delegation and implemented by the British Council.  P4D will support the Government of Bangladesh in its commitment in the 7th Five Year Plan to improve government services through strengthened accountability and engaging citizens and civil society in decision-making, using the policy instruments of the National Integrity Strategy, the Right to Information Act, Citizens’ Charters and the Grievance Redress System. P4D also supports the EU’s Roadmap for Engagement with Civil Society in its development partner countries.

P4D will initially work mostly at the local level with key players in government and civil society in its broadest sense. The aim is to identify solutions to a range of locally identified issues which will be scaled up at regional and national level at later stage. This will involve collaborative dialogue, multi-stakeholder consultation, and institutional development, capacity building of citizens, civil society actors, Civil Society Organisations and government officials. Strategic communication is a core strategy to assist the government in delivering its commitments under the 7th Five Year Plan.

Our requirements

A key requirement for the project is to build trust and recognition among its target beneficiaries, including government and civil society. To do this as effectively as possible, it is important that the project is known by a Bangla name that is memorable and accurately reflects its aims of creating meaningful conversations about important issues.

The British Council invites applications from design agencies or individual designers for the Platforms for Dialogue project.

The successful agency or individual will be expected to create:

  1. A memorable, distinctive and easily-recognised Bangla name that will appeal to all participants in the project. This name should immediately convey to the audience the following qualities:
    • Dialogue
    • Transparency
    • Equality
    • Community
    • Working together to create change
    • The name should not be an acronym
  1. A P4D logo to be used on a website, social media pages and all project collateral
  2. Branded collateral, including a letterhead, template for a newsletter and template for project factsheets
  3. The collateral should be delivered in electronic format for initial review and feedback within two weeks of work commencing
  4. After review and further feedback (not exceeding three sets of revisions), the final products should be delivered within four weeks of work commencing

Required skills and experience

The designer may be an individual or company registered in Bangladesh with a minimum of five years’ experience of designing and delivering similar collateral for development projects, NGOs or international organisations.

The designer should submit three examples of past work, along with a brief summary of the work carried out, as part of the proposal.
