Knowledge Management and Communication Specialist; Skills Development Programme (SDP)

Job Description/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and ensure implementation of a communication and advocacy strategy and action plan in line with BRAC Communications Guidelines and follow up its implementation in coordination with SDP team
  • Write posts/updates/op-eds/blogs and provide content (text, photos, design) on different internal and external platform
  •  Write and edit clear and compelling media advisory and press releases that avoid jargons and clichés and ensure media coverage in coordination with BRAC’s Communication and Advocacy department
  • Ensure a regularly updated stock of diverse stories (both in Bengali and English) and high quality photos of all projects, pilots and programme events
  • Organise events (e.g. dissemination seminar, inauguration, report launch) according to programme needs
  • Facilitate development of videos, design and print material as per project needs
  • Follow up with the communications, advocacy, procurement and other departments as well as external agencies and vendors to ensure deliverables are on schedule
  • Ensure that relevant SDP personnel and those from other departments liaising with partners/donors have communication materials at hand whenever needed
  • Proofread and edit content developed by SDP staff and function as gatekeeper for content quality for SDP.
  • Contribute to develop SDP Business Plan/Proposal and manage SDP’s strategic documents (annual report, progress reports, AoP, results/M&E Framework, SDP Log Frame etc.)
  • Coordinate with all SDP units/projects/interventions and work closely with M&E staff for data management and MIS
  • Ensure proper documentation of SDP interventions and dissemination of learning
  • Contribute to SDP research and studies and research issues, trends, and events that give direction to SDP initiatives; share such products with the wider BRAC family and the results with external audience on various platforms

Educational Requirements:

  • Masters in Mass Communication and Journalism, Public Administration, Sociology, Anthropology, Gender and Development, Population Science, Peace & Conflict Studies, Development Studies, English Literature, Economics or any other relevant discipline from any reputed University with all second class/ division or equivalent GPA/ CGPA in academic examinations.
  • No 3rd division/ class or equivalent CGPA is acceptable

Experience Requirements:

  • At least 3-4 years of relevant working experience in knowledge management and communication department for a national or an international development organisation, in addition 1-2 years of experience in report writing and documentation will be an asset.

Additional Job Requirements:

  • Excellent computer and relevant technical skills on communication and advocacy material development (including Adobe InDesign, Photoshop etc)
  • Excellent writing skills in both English and Bengali
  • In-depth empirical and analytical understanding on key development issues in the context of urban and rural Bangladesh
  • Excellent team player with necessary analytical, organisational and project management, problem solving and interpersonal skills, able to work with minimal direction, pro-active, flexible and highly creative
  • Knowledge on socio economic context of the country in general and Technical and Vocational Education and
  • Training (TVET) and Education system, National Skills Development Policy, National Education Policy,
  • National Non-Formal Education Policy, national guidelines on TVET and Skills
    Development in particular will be an asset.
  • Conversant in analytical writing for a development/non-profit organization
  • Demonstrable experience (portfolio with examples) of communication mastery,
    from concepts to campaigns
  • Sound knowledge and working experience of different communication tools and
    platforms (need to provide samples of work)
  • Demonstrable experience of publishing high quality posts, reports, research,
    proposals and successful tender documents (need to provide samples of work)
