  Position  

Manager, Emergency Response & Preparedness; BRAC Humanitarian Programme (BHP)

Job Description/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct surveys to determine the types of emergency-related needs that will need to be addressed in disaster planning, or provide technical support to others conducting such surveys
  • Keep informed of global and local regulations affecting emergency plans and ensure that plans adhere to regulations
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders in order to prepare and analyze damage assessments/ need assessment following disasters or emergencies
  • Provide technical support to emergency response team and other local management team for 1st line response and subsequently the recovery projects with attention to programme quality and ensure programme activities/ indicator are achieved within timeline
  • Prepare district level contingency plan and risk mapping regarding humanitarian aspect
  • Provide technical assistance to Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) team to mainstreaming DRR
  • Collaboration with Need Assessment Secretariat and other relevant stakeholders in order to ensure a coordinated need assessment process in the aftermath of a disaster
  • Ensure early warning and weather updates and circulate it through different communication channel (i.e.: community radio, email, sms etc.)
  • Ensure all preparedness and emergency response activities
  • Develop team capacity through field visit, meeting, discussion and individual contact, on the job training
  • Represent BRAC in coordination platform including cluster as assigned by the authority
  Requirements  

Educational Requirements:

  • Masters in Social Science, Disaster Management or any relevant subject from any reputed University with all second class/ division or equivalent GPA/ CGPA in academic examinations. No 3rd division/ class or equivalent CGPA is acceptable
  • Having experience and training related to Emergency response, Recovery and Rehabilitation will get preference

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 05 years of working experience in disaster management and humanitarian response is required
