Material Development Specialist, Skills Development Programme

Job Description/Responsibilities:

  • Identify necessary and potential areas for material development and/ or up-gradation
  • Responsible to develop and updated all TVET and SD related teaching learning material, certifications, etc. by maintaining national pedagogical standards and BRAC guidelines
  • Develop and edit as needed, ensure quality, pedagogy and relevancy of trade specific curriculums, courses and training modules; trainers/ instructors manuals/ guides; Competency Skills Log Book (CSLB); supplementary and complementary learning materials (books, flip charts, posters, newsletter, themes for dramas or songs etc); theme specific curriculums and training modules e.g. entrepreneurship development (e.g. negotiation, financial literacy, market analysis etc.), Social Inclusion (e.g. gender, disability etc.), Decent Work (e.g. Occupational Health and Safety etc.), Soft Skills etc.
  • Ensure materials are assessed and accredited by relevant agencies (e.g. BTEB etc.)
  • Provide orientation on the usage of the above materials
  • Collaborate with other agencies for collection, sharing and exchange of materials, and if required provide technical assistance
  • Ensure that all materials and documents focus properly on SDP’s cross-cutting themes
  • Develop relevant capacity of SDP staff as needed at both central and local level
  • Work closely with relevant colleagues (e.g. Occupational Health and Safety Specialist, TVET, SD and Quality Assurance Specialist, Social Inclusion Specialist and others) for developing materials

Educational Requirements:

  • Masters in Education/ Political Science/ Literature – Bengali or English/ Communication/ Economics/ Development Studies or any other relevant subject from any recognised university/ institution with minimum 2nd division/ class or equivalent GPA/ CGPA in all academic examinations

Experience Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of relevant and demonstrated hands-on experience in material development with specific experience in technical vocational education and training, instructional materials/ curriculum/ module development and enterprise development programmes

Additional Job Requirements:

  • In-depth empirical and analytical understanding on key development issues in the context of urban and rural Bangladesh
  • Socio economic context of the country, TVET and Education system, National Skills Development Policy, National Education Policy, National Non-Formal Education Policy, national guidelines
    on TVET and SD
  • Excellent computer and relevant technical skills on communications and
    material development (including Adobe InDesign, Photoshop etc.)
  • Excellent communicator with strong writing and verbal communication skills in
    both English and Bangla
  • Excellent team player with necessary analytical, organisational and project
    management, problem solving and interpersonal skills, able to work with
    minimal direction, pro-activeness, flexible and highly creative
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in material development, with specific
    experience in technical vocational education and training, instructional
    materials/ curriculum/ module development and enterprise development programmes
  Salary and benefits  

Age Range: Maximum 40 years
