Position: Project Officer

Number’s of Position: 02 (Two)

Company: BOHUBRIHY has started to implement a project titled “Inclusion of Older People in Disaster Resilience in South Asia” with the support of Help Age International, Bangladesh.

Job Description / Responsibility:

  • Appointed person should play role as project key person for a district,
  • Leads the field team members to implement the project interventions. Take initiative for technical delivery and support mechanism.
  • Prepare comprehensive project action plan, Monthly work plan, Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment (PVCA) and Risk Reduction Action Plan (RRAP)
  • According to the position have strong conceptual ability to receive information accurately and disseminate in timely and properly.
  • Plan, design and conduct survey, group mobilization, training; coordination meeting, other mass gathering etc.
  • Support to the volunteers’ to accomplished project activities at field level and conduct close monitoring and supervision.
  • Have to produce Disaster Preparedness Plan and Contingency plan. Develop module, materials. Prepare training report, other documentations.
  • Monitor community participation in project planning and implementation and sharing and support staff to overcome the weak areas Support project team to accomplish the core interventions and activities (Working area survey in the economy point of views, assume hazards, trend to disasters, Natural resources) 
  • Take adaptable technologies to Climate Change adverse impacts mainly in target working area.
  • Reports and submits to the concern authority Strengthen the functional linkage with DDMC, UzMC, UDMC, PIO, BADC, Livestock and Fisheries Department the Agro Enterprises and also with Research Organizations.
  • Report preparation both project progress and financial and also to be ready to provide any report as per donor requirements and submitted to concern authority at very timely manner.

Educational Requirements:

Essential:

  • Masters in Social Science, preferably in any relevant degree on Disaster Management;

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated understanding of the recent political, economic and social history of Bangladesh;
  • Preference to understanding on ageing issues either through experiences or academic knowledge
  • Experience Requirements:

Essential:

  • Demonstrated 2-3 years’ experience of project implementation including monitoring, evaluation and evidence based learning in community based disaster risk reduction management.
  • In depth knowledge of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) issues through conducting Participatory Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment (PVCA) and Risk Reduction Action Plan (RRAP) mostly and/or practical work experience at an appropriate level;
  • Proven experience to run capacity building training/workshop for different stakeholders including older people on issues related to disaster preparedness.
  • Prior experience of working with local government bodies (e.g., Union Disaster Management Committee), National and Local NGOs, and other government and non government service providers;
  • Hands on experience to conduct and to manage baseline and Knowledge, Attitude and practices (KAP) of project at field level;
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary and multicultural team;
  • Capacitate the rural community to resilient to the Climate Change effects
  • Additional Job Requirements: (Skills and ability)

Essential:

  • Ability to foster and support capacity building in target communities;
  • Ability to influence, communicates and co-operates, and negotiates with community people and institutions such as community based organization (CBO) and UDMC
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to communicate well in person, presentation skills and in writing such as reports and evidence based documents (in English and in Bangla);
  • Competent IT skills, including experience of Word, Excel and PowerPoint;

Desirable:

  • Ability to manage multiple and complex tasks;

Job Location: Lalmonirhat and Kurigram districts.

Salary Range: Consolidated monthly salary BDT. 25,000.00
