Senior Analysis and Reporting Officer (Full-time)
The Food Security Nutritional Surveillance Project (FSNSP), being implemented by BRAC
Institute of Global Health (BIGH), BRAC University is working in collaboration with Helen
Keller International with financial assistance from the European Union (EU). The project
partners with Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), Ministry of Planning and National
Nutrition Services (NNS), IPHN. FSNSP is the only surveillance system in Bangladesh to
provide seasonal and nationally representative estimates of food security and nutrition. Using
state-of-art methods and indicators, the system provides up-to-date evidence on the food security,
nutrition and health status of women and children, to support the design, implementation and
evaluation of national strategies and assess progress towards internationally agreed development
targets. This project informs the policy planners and program managers in planning appropriate
initiatives aimed at nutrition improvement. FSNSP is inviting applications for suitable candidates
for the position of a Senior Analysis and Reporting Officer.
Job Description:
- Supervise the Analysis and Reporting Unit; including making a work-plan for Analysis and
Reporting Unit maintaining the deadline.
- Guiding the Analysis and Reporting Officers and Statisticians to prepare the first draft of the
reports; reviewing first draft for technical contribution and giving feedback to analysis and reporting
unit team members.
- Preparing the second draft for the technical reviewer’s review; and finalizing the report according
to consultant’s direction.
- Capacity building of the Analysis and Reporting Unit members working under your supervision
- Preparing a guiding manual for the Analysis and Reporting Unit;
- Assists with the formulation and design of new plans and special studies, including the formulation
of research questions, conceptual model development, literature review, study design and methods,
logistics and analytical plan;
- Liaises with the Data Management Unit for data quality issues;
- Assists in updating design methodology of FSNP data collection before each round;
- Assists in the development and preparation of data collection instruments (including questionnaires,
operations manuals) and training for routine FSNSP data collection and for special studies;
- Assist in the training of field staff for routine data collection and special studies if required;
- Updating Project Coordinator about the activity status minimum twice in a week or as per
requirement.
- Preparing annual report, bulletin, special study report according to project requirement;
- Following the timeline approved by the Project Manager.
- Any other tasks assigned by the Project Manager.
Education and Relevant Experience Required:
- PhD (or enrolled for PhD) in Nutrition/ or Community nutrition/or any public health discipline
which focuses on nutrition with academic record and from renowned Institute/University.
- 8 years of working experience in nutrition sector of which 5 years in report writing.
Functional competencies:
Knowledge of:
- Report writing skill with a focus on interpretation of food security and nutrition related findings.
- Trends and current situation of food security, Nutritional status of women and children in Bangladesh.
- Different techniques used to measure of nutritional status
- Indicators relevant to nutrition and food security
- Food security and nutrition related goals set by government and international organizations
- Guidelines and Tools used to develop food security and nutrition indicators (eg. HFIAS for food
security, IYCF by WHO for child feeding etc)
- Microsoft office word and excel (Adobe Illustrator will be an added advantage).
