Job Title : Training Assistant
Reports to : Consortium Coordinator
Duty Station : Cox’s Bazar
Start Date : May 1st, 2019.

Context:
BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development charity. We use media and communications to reduce poverty and promote human rights in developing countries. We partner with civil society, local media and others to produce creative programmes in multi-media formats which inform and engage audiences around key development issues and strengthen the media sector through capacity building. Our work is built on insights from our research and engagement with communities and is focused on three key themes: governance and human rights, health and resilience.

Overall purpose:
The Training Assistant will work as part of BBC Media Action’s response to the Rohingya emergency in Cox’s Bazar – s/he will work to provide logistical and administrative support to the training team for the delivery of training to a wide range of UN, NGO and government agencies, with the aim of improving the amount and quality of community engagement and accountability activity within the overall Rohingya emergency response.

Main Duties:
The training assistant will provide assistance and support to BBC Media Action and our consortium partners in preparing, delivering and following up from training and mentoring activities. Specifically, the responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in the preparation of materials including printing of relevant documents i.e.: session plans / handouts / toolkit materials.
  • Ensure all support materials and equipment is provided at the venue or location ahead of the training/event.
  • Assist with the organisation of logistics (venues, catering, etc) for training activities. Ensure the venue is set up ahead of the event.
  • Be responsible for appropriate documentation such as sign-in sheets being completed and archived.
  • Provide support in scanning documents for archive purposes.
  • Provide other support under the direction of the Consortium Coordinator.

In general, normal office hours will apply but the nature of the role means that a flexible approach to working time will be necessary.
