Context:

BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development charity. We use media and communications to reduce poverty and promote human rights in developing countries. We partner with civil society, local media and others to produce creative programmes in multi-media formats which inform and engage audiences around key development issues and strengthen the media sector through capacity building. Our work is built on insights from our research and engagement with communities and is focused on three key themes: governance and human rights, health and resilience.

BBC Media Action is currently working with partners to help meet the information and communication needs of Rohingya people and host communities living in Cox’s Bazar district. We are looking for a production coordinator with excellent organisational and communication skills to support BBC Media Action’s production team. The ideal candidate will also have some experience of working in audio or audiovisual production.

Overall purpose:

Reporting to the radio producer, the production coordinator will provide administrative, coordination and logistical support for the radio production team. S/he will work within the production team to support the delivery of outputs on time, to budget and in accordance with BBC Media Action’s high creative standards and editorial requirements.

Main Duties & responsibilities:

  • Work with the producer to co-ordinate scripting, casting, location arrangements, production schedules, post production and delivery across the series.
  • Keep equipment inventories related to assigned projects up to date, ensuring that all movements are recorded in a timely manner and that equipment and material are stored properly in the warehouse.
  • Work with the Dhaka based admin team to arrange and manage travel, accommodation and event-related needs related to production activities in Cox's Bazar.
  • Convene and minute regular production team meeting.
  • Co-ordinate scripts and translations, including photocopying, collation, version control, distribution and collation of notes, comments and changes
  • Work to organise all travel, accommodation and catering requirements for location recording
  • Co-ordinate purchasing for the production, in line with BBC processes
  • Prepare and distribute production information, including crew lists, call sheets, post-production paperwork, etc.
  • Manage runners and co-ordinate workplans and contracts for freelance talent and craft staff
  • Play a role in ensuring the safety of all crew and contributors, with reference to BBC Media Action’s safety and incident management teams in Dhaka where necessary.
  • To undertake any other administrative and co-ordination duties requested by the line manager.
  • Co-ordinate and drive editorial sign off processes for final output deliverables.

The post will be based in Cox’s Bazar, but the postholder must be willing and able to travel to shoot/recording locations when required.
