Project Coordinator

Job Context
Bangladesh Society for the change and Advocacy Nexus (B-SCAN) invites application from the Bangladeshi nationals for the position of “Project Coordinator” for Girls Advocacy Alliance (GAA) supported by Plan International Bangladesh. B-SCAN is women leaded disabled people’s organization (DPO) which is working for ensuring accessibility of persons with disabilities in education, reproductive health rights, transport facility and other rights mentioned in CRPD (Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities). It consists of seven members headed Executive Committee among them six are persons with disabilities.

REPORT TO: President, B-SCAN.

SUPERVISEE: President, B-SCAN through Executive Committee.

Scope of Job Responsibilities

Project Management:

  • GAA Project Coordinator is responsible to lead the implementation of Girls Advocacy Alliance under the leadership of President, B-SCAN.
  • Being a Project leader the Project Coordinator has the responsibility to coordinate project planning, implementation, monitoring with highest possible standards.
  • She/he must have the competency to prepare quarterly report, annual report, collect success stories, learning and provide information to GAA Team when required.

Financial and Partnership Management

  • The Project Coordinator will oversee and accomplish all activities of the project as per plan.
  • Project Coordinator will coordinate with GAA Focal person and Finance Person of Plan International Bangladesh as and when required.
  • Track project budget vs expenditure is one of the important competency of the project coordinator of GAA.
  • She/he will guide Finance Personnel to prepare donor report and submit on time with the approval of President, B-SCAN.
  • She/he has the responsibility to put the justification against under or over expenditure and submit to Plan International Bangladesh on time.

Policy advocacy:

  • She/he must have proper knowledge on policy advocacy and how to develop advocacy strategy based on the regular analysis of socio economic context.
  • GAA Project Coordinator should have the capacity to internalize GAA programme TOC, strategic choices and outcome and implement based on B-SCAN’s priority areas.
  • Provide coordination and linkages with different CSO platforms to uphold advocacy issues.
  • She/he must have knowledge on national and international Human Rights instrument –such as OPR, CEDAW, SDG, Convention on the Rights of the Person with Disabilities, Persons with Disabilities Rights and Protection Act 2013, Neuro Developmental Disabilities Protection Trust 2013, Child Marriage Restraint Act 2017, Human Trafficking Suppression Act 2012.

Coordination, linkages and accountability
The overall purpose or function of this position is to take lead in all programmatic areas under the guidance of B-SCAN Executive Committee. She/he will be responsible for managing the assigned projects/partnership through the provision of financial and technical assistance within the framework of B-SCAN policies, strategies, the approved Project Description, & Theory of Change and the signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). She/he will be also responsible to provide necessary information to partners, donors & the B-SCAN board as and when required.

As a member of B-SCAN Secretariat, the Project Coordinator is responsible to support the implementation of the project, manage the grants and supervise the grantees under the supervision of the executive Committee. The Project Coordinator will assist the program team in proper implementation of the activities as per plan. He will be in constant touch with all the stakeholders and strengthening networking among them. He is responsible for report preparation and dissemination of the best practices in implementing programs. She/he must be able to establish and maintain contacts with key actors as well as make use of available sources for gathering and distributing key information.

Job Requirements

  • A Master degree in a related field. Government University applicant will be highly encouraged.
  • Experience on the advocacy of gender based violence against women with disabilities.
  • Experience on work with Disabled People’s Organization (DPOs)
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge in persons with disability sector especially in cross persons with disability would be an asset. 
  • Strong interpersonal communication, facilitation, presentation, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Good understanding on CRPD & SDG, spontaneous idea generation, concept note writing and capacity to input policy review.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both official languages (Bangla & English).
  • Thorough understanding of national and international policies, practices, processes, standards etc. and their impact on project activities is vital.

Job Location: Dhaka

Salary Range: 50000.00 (Fifty thousand)
