Acid Survivors Foundation (ASF) is a centre of excellence with a vision of Bangladesh free from acid violence, where burn victims, especially women and children live with dignity.

It is an independent, non-government, non-profit organization, set up as a Trust and registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau of the Government of Bangladesh. It is the only specialized NGO in Bangladesh working to prevent acid and burn violence; empower survivors, especially women and children; and campaign for prevention and elimination of this violence. ASF works with an integrated approach, using a holistic (bio-psycho-social) multi-stakeholder approach backed by research, experience and evidence.

ASF is looking for a qualified candidate for the following position:

Manager- Survivors Support Services

The Manager -SSS will be reportable to Head of Programs and will oversee notification & referrals services, rehabilitation programs, advocacy and networking, prevention, partnership management, communication and documentation of above mentioned programs and staff supervision.

Specific responsibility includes:

Program Management:

  • Contribute to overall leadership to ASF’s Survivors Support Services (notification, rehabilitation, reintegration, and prevention) and ensure that program activities are in line with ASF’s operational plan.
  • Monitor the progress/achievement of the planned activities and take proactive actions on field findings and recommendations in case of deviation.
  • Ensure supportive supervision and support team members in planning and implementing team plans and objectives. Actively participate in and contribute to Development, management and effective functioning of the unit.

 Advocacy and Networking:

  • Develop & maintain close linkage with Government of Bangladesh especially Dept. of Social Service, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs and local government bodies including the District Acid Control Committee
  • In collaboration with Senior Management assist in advocacy activities that target decision makers at all levels.
  • Ensure that ASF’s planning and work is coordinated with efforts of other agencies and government to ensure specific needs of acid survivors are being addressed.
  • Develop & maintain effective relationship with relevant bodies for corporate social responsibility initiative for survivor’s economic and social development.
  • Create and facilitate strategic partnerships and networks to promote ASF’s work
  • Represent ASF in different forums and networks and build relationships to achieve organizational goals and objectives. 

Knowledge Management and Communications:

  • Ensure that the ASF communication outputs are of a high standard, respond to the needs of the target audience, and are delivered within agreed budget and timelines
  • Prepare press statements and articles on acid violence for internal and external Communications
  • Develop high quality program outreach materials such as newsletter, brochures, multimedia and ASF’s annual report, working papers, case studies, implementation tools, policy briefs etc.
  • Develop contents for the website and ASF’s social media sites to showcase ASF’s work and support fund raising initiatives
  • Strengthen program reporting by supporting effective documentation and dissemination needs
  • Design, construct and maintain in-house databases of relevant material including key programmatic and learning documents to act as the centralized knowledge anchor.
  • Disseminate ASF’s communication and advocacy materials to relevant stakeholders
  • Establish relationships with key stakeholders related to media and communications

Others:

  • Supervise the duties of his/her team members and ensuring that the delivery of the provided services meets policy requirements and standardization.
  • Provide training, guidance and coaching to his/her subordinates to build their capacity to achieve results of the component.
  • Prepare budget and ensure that program expenditures are in line with the procedures and policies of ASF as well as Donor.
  • Prepare timely program and donor reports on program activities in compliance with ASF’s requirements and any other relevant donor requirements.
  • Work closely with ASF’s M&E unit, ASF Hospital, Finance and Human Resource management team.
  • Contribute to  proposals development as part of ASF’s resource mobilization team
  • Oversee the systematic maintenance of files, confidential documents, database, accounts and financial documents.

 LOCATION: Dhaka with frequent field visit.

SALARY: Negotiable

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

At least post graduate from a recognized university preferably in Development Studies, Women and Gender Studies, Mass Communication and Journalism or any other relevant discipline of Social Science.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

At least 05 years of working experience at managerial level in an NGO/ INGO in the field of social development and/or human development and/or women rights and/ or human rights

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

  • The incumbent requires knowledge on violence against women, social work theories, practices and procedures.
  • The incumbent must be able to identify and assess policy issues and play an active role in the dialogue with the government and other stakeholders
  • The incumbent must understand policy making process and distill operationally relevant recommendations
  • S/he must have well developed organizational, verbal and written communications skills, interviewing and analytical skills and good computer skills.
  • The incumbent requires specific knowledge in the areas of capacity and risk assessment, family dynamics, the impact of trauma, psycho-social functioning theories and practices and child protection theories, models and practices.
  • The incumbent must be able to respond or assist in emergency situations and have very good interpersonal, mediation, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • The incumbent must be flexible, adaptable and able to work effectively in a variety of settings and in a cross-cultural situation and be knowledgeable of the services available in ASF, local govt. and other stakeholders
  • The incumbent must have an understanding of strategic and technical aspects in communication
  • The incumbent must have excellent writing and documentation skills in English with the ability to conceptualize and present in an organized way
