Job Description/ Responsibilities:

The Project Officer will be responsible for supporting the monitoring and implementation of our projects in Bangladesh and in the South Asia region   S/he will be responsible for ensuring high standards of project implementation and project deliverables, effective and timely reporting is a must. Specific tasks will include:

Project Implementation: Facilitating and managing implementation of projects and components:

  • With guidance from the Director, organisation and delivery of assigned projects and activities including training, Roundtables, workshops, community based meetings and high profile seminars;
  • Assisting the Director in programme planning, monitoring project implementation, undertaking advocacy initiatives and  recording impact and outcomes of interventions;
  • Support the ARTICLE 19 Bangladesh Director in  planning and delivering advocacy initiatives and interventions aimed at various stakeholders in the government, donors, potential partners, civil society and other NGOs;

Programme Reporting: Support the production of high quality reporting, policy papers, legal analysis,  and project proposals by:

  • Coordinating and producing of timely and high quality reporting of projects and activities, quarterly and annual reports and  process documentation, presentations, campaign materials and publications
  • Contributing to the development and  submission of new proposals by assisting in the preparation of concept notes, appraisal notes, proposal and other associated documentation as necessary;

Programme Monitoring: Assisting the Director in monitoring the branding, quality and timeliness of project deliverables including publications, reports, documentations, videos, newsletters, promotional and campaign materials and translations;

  • Support capacity building efforts and resolve implementation issues with  partners, consultants, and  networks;  
  • Preparation, monitoring and revision of activity plans for the projects;

Communication and media Moblilisation: Coordinating high profile media coverage for the ARTICLE 19 Bangladesh and its’ projects including both print and    electronic media management, press invitations, press release and press conferences;

  • Assisting in the preparation of international press release and statements based on different projects;

Contributing to the overall work of ARTICLE 19, including: Contributing to general ARTICLE 19 campaigns and to cross-learning initiatives with other regional/thematic programmes and regional policies, strategies and programme development processes;

Job Nature: Full-time 

Educational Requirements:

  • Should have at least a Master degree, preferably in Law,  Development Studies, and/or any other  social science; A degree from renowned foreign university will be given preference;

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in an international and/or national NGO;
  • Proven experience of work as project coordinator/officer, programme development and/ or in advocacy officer;
  • Experience of managing partners, research and field based activities;
  • Sound in using internet and networking;
  • High level skills of report writing and communication are essential;
  • Experience in development and submission of funding proposals is desirable;
  • Knowledge and/or experience of work on freedom of expression and access to information will be an added advantage.

Duration: 1 year with possibilities of extension

Salary: Negotiable

Other Benefits: As per organizational policy.

Job Location: Dhaka, with some field and international travel
