CAREER OPPORTUNITY

About ARK Foundation
ARK Foundation is a non-government, non-political and not for profit organization. It is registered with Register of Joint Stock Company of Bangladesh and NGO Affairs Bureau of Bangladesh. We carry out research on priority areas and share our evidence-based research findings with a wider audience through a wide range of research uptake activities, working closely with policy partners.

ARK foundation has been awarded a research grant to conduct research on mental and physical multimorbidity. Mental and physical disorders are inextricably linked, sharing common determinants. People with severe mental illness have a 60% higher risk of dying prematurely from non-communicable diseases; and over 80% of deaths in mental illness are due to physical illness. Interventions to promote smoking cessation and physical activity in severe mental illness, and treatment of depression in non-communicable diseases can lead to significant improvements in both mental and physical health. The University of York and Hull York Medical School in collaboration with ARK Foundation have a new global health programme focused on developing and evaluating interventions to improve outcomes for this vulnerable population with mental and physical multimorbidity in South Asia. The aim is to build research capacity in the UK and in South Asia and conduct preliminary research that will provide a platform to tackle this important area.
