Title:  Elementary School Bangla Language Teacher

Job Objective:

To educate students following the school’s mission and vision and curriculum.

Qualifications:
Education:
  • U.S. or Equivalent Certification preferred
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree from a reputed International University required.
Experience:
  • At least two years of experience preferably in International settings. Experience working with non-native and native Bengali Speakers.
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Fluent and literate in English and Bangla (reading, writing, speaking and listening).
Employment Arrangement: Professional Staff- Dollar Scale
Supervised By: Elementary School Principal

Major Areas of Responsibility:

I. Classroom Management

  • Maintain a disciplined learning environment within the classroom, which is built out of respect and passion for the subject.

II. Student Relations

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students as needed.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, and administration as needed.
  • Coordinate the admission of new students by meeting with new Elementary School families, interviewing and testing new Elementary School students, and in collaboration with the Elementary Principal placing new students in classrooms.
  • Administer placement tests or procedures for prospective Early Childhood students in accordance with school policy.
  • Consult with local specialists to serve needs of students.

III. Teacher Relations

  • Coordinate affective education in classrooms with the assistance of classroom teachers.
  • Plan with grade level teams for the teaching of life skills in the context of units of inquiry and/or other classroom activities where appropriate
  • Attend class meetings on a rotating basis and assist classroom teachers with setting agendas and conducting effective class meetings.
  • Administer other testing as needed.

IV. Course Management

  • Facilitate a challenging academic environment.
  • Maintain an organization plan for each assigned course (subject matter outline, daily lesson plans, etc.).
  • Commit to expertise and growth in discipline content and methodology.
  • Use technology to enhance student learning and achievement.
  • To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
  • To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a Teacher.
  • To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.

V. Administrative Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the Student Support Team along with the Principal and support teachers
  • Conduct staff development in counseling-related areas.
  • Perform all other duties required of AISD teachers, as indicated in the AISD Teacher Job Description.
  • Be a member of and follow duties of school-wide Crisis Response Team.
