Position: Director, Training and Materials Development Division (TMD)

Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) is a Bangladeshi NGO with Consultative Status with UN ECOSOC and UNESCO. Founded with the motto of 'Divine and Humanitarian Service', over last 57 years DAM has been serving the human community for improved living conditions enhancing people’s capacities to maximally utilize their inner potentials. DAM's current diversified works encompass multi-dimensional field programmes and self-governing institutions in education, health and economic development sectors in Bangladesh.

Training and Material Development Division (TMD) is a core division in DAM Head Office responsible for providing technical support in human resource development in diverse fields of development both internally and externally.  TMD takes lead role in DAM to design training courses, develop curriculum, manuals/modules and IEC/BCC resources materials as well as in designing and facilitating national and international training workshops, conference etc. 

DAM is now looking for a competent and energetic Bangladeshi professional for employment as Director, TMD. This is a senior management level core position in DAM to provide leadership of this technical support division:

Position Summary:

Director, TMD will lead and provide strategic direction and leadership of the Training and Materials Development Division. S/he must have proven ability to assess training needs and design training courses, to develop curriculum manuals/modules and resources materials as well as to design and facilitate national & international courses. S/he must have proven experience and skills in developing need based IEC/BCC resource material for different cliental groups and its marketing. S/he should be capable of mobilizing fund for organizing training on specific areas or issues as well as training for HRD in DAM.  S/he will prepare training proposals/EoI, etc. as and when necessary and appropriate. S/he will maintain close relationship with other divisions, institutions and projects in DAM. This position is based in the Head Office in Dhaka and regular travel to field offices.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Director, Training and Materials Division will provide managerial and strategic leadership and will be responsible for overall operations of the division;
  • Provide strategic direction to TMD to promote DAM as a center of excellence in and outside Bangladesh.
  • Assess training needs and design training courses, develop curriculum manuals/modules and resources materials.
  • Design need based IEC/BCC material for different cliental groups and be responsible for its marketing.
  • Plan, design and conduct training and orientation courses, conference and workshop at the national and international levels.
  • Offer in-house training and also explore and provide customized training to other agencies.
  • Prepare annual and periodic report of the division and guide in documentation of experience.
  • S/he will work closely with different divisions and institutions  as necessary.
  • Mobilize fund for implementation of divisional plan and activities in line with the DAM strategy plan; prepare training proposals/EOI, etc. for national and international agencies as and when necessary
  • Maintain close working relationship with national and international agencies to promote inter-institutional collaboration
  • Director TMD will represent DAM in relevant platforms, committees, seminars and meetings at divisional and national levels, as required.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned time to time

 Position Requirements 

  • Candidate must have a Masters Degree in any social science; Post-graduate professional degree in an education, communication or management discipline would be considered as added qualification .
  • At least 15 years job experience of which at least 10 years in senior management position with preference to management of training and/or resource material development.
  • Demonstrated ability to write reports and ensuring timely delivery of project progress reports to the government and donors.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the national and regional context relating to training and resource material development.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and coordinate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, including national and local government, donors, community-based organizations, think tanks and universities, and the private sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage cooperative high-level relationships and motivate subordinates.
  • Experience in integrating gender and inclusion into training and IEC/BCC resource material development.
  • Spoken and written fluency in both English and Bangla.

Age: Maximum 55 years
