Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) is an important sector programme of DAM complementing broad-based Health sector. In WASH sector, diverse water, sanitation and hygiene concerned issues are addressed focusing on increased access to safe water for household use by diversifying hardware technology and promoting water enterprises at the local level and intensifying hygiene promotion and cleanliness campaign in the schools, communities and townships. The WASH programme is gradually being expanded in new urban settlements, secondary towns, and growth centres.

DAM is now looking for an experienced energetic Bangladeshi professional for employment as Head of WASH sector. This is a senior management level core position in DAM to provide leadership and guidance to the teams in the sector.

Position Summary:

Head of WASH will provide programmatic leadership of the sector. S/he will be supervisory personnel of all projects in the sector. The project managers will be reportable to him/her. S/he will ensure proper implementation of the projects as per project design and to the level of expected project outcome. WASH sector Head will maintain liaison with donor organizations, submit reports on regular basis and prepare project proposals/EoI, etc. as and when necessary and appropriate. S/he will maintain close relationship with other sectors, divisions, institutions and projects in DAM to increase collaboration. S/he will represent DAM in relevant platforms, committees, seminars and meetings as required or nominated This position is based in the Head Office of DAM in Dhaka with requirements of regular travel to field offices.

Position Requirements 

• The candidate must have a Masters Degree in any social science; Post-graduate professional degree in any WASH related discipline would be considered as added qualification.
• At least 10 years job experience of which 5 years in senior management position of WASH related programmes.
• Demonstrated understanding of the national and regional context relating to WASH policy, programmes, training and resource materials.
• Explicit experience of programme leadership and management of multiple teams.
• Demonstrated ability to write reports and submit reports to the government and donors.
• Demonstrated ability to work and coordinate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, including government, donors, community-based organizations, and the private sector.
• Demonstrated ability manage cooperative relationships and motivate team members.
• Experience in integrating gender and inclusion into water, sanitation and hygiene programmes.
• Spoken and written fluency in both English and Bangla.

Age: Maximum 45 years
