IT MANAGER

The Aga Khan Education Services (AKES) is an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network and one  of the largest private, not-for-profit, non-denominational educational networks in the developing world. In Bangladesh, the Aga Khan Education Service, Bangladesh (AKESB) is responsible for the operation of the Aga Khan School, Dhaka which is well known as one of the best schools of the country offering international quality education to students. The School has currently four campuses located close to each other in Sector 4, Uttara Residential Area, Dhaka.

The Aga Khan School Dhaka has a vacancy for an IT MANAGER. The IT Manager shall be responsible for managing and coordinating all the IT functions of the Aga Khan School, Dhaka and lead the IT Department to be efficient, responsible and responsive with updated knowledge and skills.

Key responsibilities would include: management, review, fine-tune and update the school’s Education Management Information System (EMIS) to ensure smooth operation at all times; fulfill database administration responsibilities for EMIS, including day-to-day management; facilitate and optimise procurement of all IT needs for the operations of the schools and offices and hardware replacement planning. The incumbent would have to support the integration, management, training and maintenance of all software required/used in the school; assist in the development of other management information systems (MIS), as required, drive the development and/or implementation and eventual maintenance of information systems (HR, Student Management, Financials, etc.). In addition, the incumbent would be required to lead the local implementation of all global and regional projects rolled out through very close interaction with global and regional functional teams and leaders.

The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • A B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from a state owned university (BUET/CUET/KUET) or from a reputed foreign university/institute.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of networking, programming, database management and MIS.
  • Minimum seven years’ experience of which five years in managing complex database and management information systems geared towards assisting diverse management decision needs. Previous experience in an international school would be an added advantage.
  • Ability to lead a team of seven to ten members capable to provide quick and effective trouble shooting service to diverse users to ensure near zero down time.
  • A highly helping, extremely responsive and superbly customer oriented attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with diverse groups of people including expatriates.
  • Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English – ability to communicate with global team members on professional matters.

Previous Project Management experience in successful implementation and roll-out of new complex information system(s) is essential to succeed in this role.
