PROCUREMENT AND SUPPORT SERVICES MANAGER

The Aga Khan Education Service (AKES) is an institution of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) operating in 200 countries. Over 2 million students benefit from AKDN education programmes from early childhood development to secondary schools, and from vocational studies to university degrees. In Bangladesh, the Aga Khan Education Service, Bangladesh (AKES,B) is responsible for the operation of the Aga Khan School, Dhaka which is well recognised as one of the best schools in the country offering international quality education to students. The School has currently four campuses located close to each other in Sector 4, Uttara Residential Area, Dhaka. An ambitious plan to expand and consolidate the facilities in a large purpose built campus is in progress.

The AKES,B has a vacancy for a Procurement and Support Services Manager (PSSM) who will be responsible for all the procurements of the Aga Khan School, Dhaka.  More specifically, the incumbent would be responsible for devising and using fruitful sourcing strategies, negotiate strongly for the best price-quality options and be able to anticipate market trends and possible changes and advise the management accordingly. The incumbent would assist in preparing the departmental budget and translate the same into an Annual Procurement Plan broken down to individual items with costs and timelines. In performing these responsibilities the PSSM will work effectively with the entire school’s leadership team and ensure that their requirements are adequately met within the due time at the best possible cost without compromising on quality. In terms of support services the PSSM shall be responsible for executing contracts and agreements execution including liaising with legal counsel as needed, arranging visas and tickets for official foreign travel by staff members; providing protocol services for visitors and overseeing all service contracts for equipment at the school for ensuring smooth function of all equipment and facilities at all schools such as office equipment, catering equipment, air conditioners, etc. In addition the PSSM shall also be responsible for ensuring proper inventory control.

The candidate MUST meet ALL the following requirements:

  • Bachelors or Master Degree in any discipline.
  • Capability to effectively communicate in both written and English
  • MINIMUM 7+ years experience in Procurement or Supply Chain function in a large and well known English Medium School.
  • Thorough knowledge about school related materials vendors and suppliers both locally and internationally.
  • In-depth knowledge of import procedures including knowledge of import related banking processes (for example - establishing LCs, sending remittances, etc.).
  • Strong negotiation skills and uncompromising work ethics.
