Job skills and responsibilities include:

• Work with large and small agricultural firms to identify and implement program interventions that promote market-based and sustainable solutions to constraints in agricultural and livestock sectors;
• Demonstrate strong understanding and respect of the private sector in Bangladesh and its ability to generate economic benefits for the local population;
• Promote market access, financial products, new technologies, management skills, and policy reform with agri-businesses;
• Conduct industry / market assessments including the identification of market trends, relationships between market actors, constraints / opportunities, and market-based solutions;
• Interview and facilitate discussions / focus group discussions with private-sector market actors, government representatives, association members, NGO representatives, etc.

Others skills and responsibilities include:

• Promote good relationships between AFE, private sector / companies, government and donors;
• Possess ability to independently manage multiple program implementation activities with a high level of maturity, initiative, attention to detail and flexibility;
• Facilitate improved relationships between market actors in targeted industries;
• Conduct regular travel and spend significant periods of time outside of Dhaka.

Required education and experience:

• Masters in Agriculture and/or MBA degree
• Experience in private sector is preferred but not required;
• Minimum five years of working experience in managerial and technical position in agriculture programs (experience working with private sector will be preferred);
• Experience / knowledge in private sector development programs, esp. market development, agribusiness, exports, small enterprise development in Bangladesh;
• Experience in project implementation, including monitoring project activities and outputs;
• Good knowledge of using information communication technologies to promote improved communication and business transactions with farmers
• Demonstrated experience in writing project reports / documents, memorandums of understanding, TOR / contracts etc;
• Prepare and conduct formal presentations;
• Experience of organizing conferences, seminars, workshops, trainings, study tours, etc;
• Excellent communications skills in both written and spoken English and Bengali;
• Thorough knowledge and use of relevant computer software, such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project) and Internet search engines;
• Strong inter-personal skills, proactive, highly organized and ability to work under pressure and with set deadlines.

Desirable education and experience:

• Experience with DCED standards for results measurement
• Experience working with trade associations.
