SUMMARY:
Water Specialists assist the implementation of WASH initiatives with the intention of lowering health risks for affected populations in the areas of water, sanitation and hygiene. The Water Specialist is both expected to be capable to give specialized technical support, conduct situational analyses in the field and take sectorial leadership. Cooperation and coordination with partner organizations, local governments, and different NGOs vital elements as well as being able to do financial priorities and reports. Furthermore training & awareness of both affected or displaced populations will regularly be necessary
Job Description / Responsibility
- Water Specialist need to lead the planning, development, and execution of new initiatives in the water supply for Rohingya communities
- Liaise with relevant actors in different stages of WASH programme/project implementation to follow up on agreements and recommendations
- Support and enhance existing programme(s) inside the WASH sector
- Consolidate and provide technical guidance and support to implementing partners on all water, sanitation and hygiene promotion related issues, to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, sustainability and environmental soundness in their implementation
- Arrange repairs of existing systems e.g. tanks, pumps, pipe networks and generators
- Asses the health dangers in the overall WASH situation, and plan and implement systems to improve the situation in collaboration with relevant actors
- Facilitate participatory and community-based approaches.
- Guide and supervise technical and support staff and make sure that training needs are met
- Build awareness to affected or displaced people
- Contribute to the budgeting process and give inputs to the financial management of the program on technical areas
- Provide reports and input to the Emergency WASH Sector Coordination forum on progress and results of interventions and activities
- Guide and oversee performance of assistant(s)
- Performs other related duties as required
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor in Engineering (BEngg) in Water Resources Engineering
- Skills Required: ICT for Development
Experience Requirements
- 4 to 5 year(s)
- The applicants should have experience in the following area(s):
- Field or Project Organizer
