Project Summary

Over 1 million of Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Citizen (with the majority comprising women and children), took shelter in camps in Cox’s Bazar in southern Bangladesh on August 2017. The Government of Bangladesh, together with national and international partners, have pro‐actively responding to this crisis with a massive humanitarian response, allocating 2,000 acres of land and coordinating and providing critical assistance such as food, nutrition, shelter, water, health & hygiene, and psycho‐social and basic education services to the camps, settlements and host communities.

ActionAid is implementing site management activities in Camp 11 and 12 funded by IOM. Besides, ActionAid have few ongoing programmes in different sectors e.g. Protection, WASH, NFI etc. inside the camps. As a response agency since September 2017, ActionAid has developed relationships with a range of camp actors, including the Rohingya and their representatives and successfully doing the site management role. ActionAid is working with IOM to address critical humanitarian gaps and need through site management by coordination & collaboration with different stakeholders. Information management, linking community with different service providers, camp operations, and DRR and site improvement are the major activities of site management project.

Key Responsibilities include (not limited to)

  • Assisting Camp In-Charge (CIC) for coordination in camp level and being responsible for camp operation activity monitoring;
  • Organizing regular site coordination meeting and prepare meeting minutes;
  • Organizing regular Majhi (Area/Group Leader) coordination meeting and prepare meeting minutes;
  • Setting agendas for different coordination meetings and follow-up;
  • Coordinating with different stakeholder based on the requirement and suggestion from CIC;
  • Managing the refugee relocation process to/from the camp (when applicable), closely coordinating with the SD as well as other service providers during the exercise;
  • Maintaining close coordination with the SD team and other service providers for the allocation of space for small-scale site infrastructure and land allocation for service provision;
  • Acting as Focal point for reporting of ‘Category 1’ incidents and coordinating the response and
    activities promoting peaceful coexistence between refugees and host community;
  • Planning and supervising data collection exercises, including service/facility monitoring, household-level surveys and other assessments as per needs;
  • Coordinating the identification, engagement and tracking of casual workers for cash-for-work schemes implemented by the implementing partner in the camp;
  • Properly archiving all documents produced within the project/s along with the verification of sources;
  • Informing coordination team in case of any discrepancy and active involvement in identifying solutions;
  • Any other task agreed as assigned by line Manager.

Relationships

  • The person holds this position will be directly reportable to Senior Camp Manager.

Required Educational Qualification and Experiences

Education

  • Master’s in environmental science/ sociology, URP or equivalent degree in relevant subject.

Experience

  • Not less than 4 years professional experience in the same position in humanitarian and/or development programs
    and in the relevant field.

Required Competencies

  • Experience in CCCM/Site Management is highly desired specially Cash for work (CFW).
  • Experience in community engagement, infrastructural development, WaSH activities and livelihood activities.
  • Excellent Monitoring and Evaluation Skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Fluency in English is required. Proficiency on local language can be an added value.
