Project Summary
Over 1 million of Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Citizen (with the majority comprising women and children), took shelter in camps in Cox’s Bazar in southern Bangladesh on August 2017. The Government of Bangladesh, together with national and international partners, have pro‐actively responding to this crisis with a massive humanitarian response, allocating 2,000 acres of land and coordinating and providing critical assistance such as food, nutrition, shelter, water, health & hygiene, and psycho‐social and basic education services to the camps, settlements and host communities.

ActionAid is implementing site management activities in Camp 11 and 12 funded by IOM. Besides, ActionAid have few ongoing programmes in different sectors e.g. Protection, WASH, NFI etc. inside the camps. As a response agency since September 2017, ActionAid has developed relationships with a range of camp actors, including the Rohingya and their representatives and successfully doing the site management role. ActionAid is working with IOM to address critical humanitarian gaps and need through site management by coordination & collaboration with different stakeholders. Information management, linking community with different service providers, camp operations, and DRR and site improvement are the major activities of site management project.

Key Responsibilities include (not limited to)

  • Assist Camp In-Charge (CIC) for coordination in camp level;
  • Coordination with local government, army and all actors in the camp;
  • Organize regular site coordination meeting and prepare meeting minutes
  • Organize regular Majhi (Area/Group Leader) coordination meeting and prepare meeting minutes;
  • Make regular agenda setting for different coordination meetings and follow-up;
  • Make a list of Needs and gaps for sharing at the coordination meeting and follow-up;
  • Coordination with different stakeholder based on the requirement and suggestion from CIC;
  • Responsible for the successful implementation and monitoring of the Site Management program;
  • Ensures the smooth running of activities (objectives achievement, adherence to schedules, etc.) and reports to his/her direct supervisor;
  • Helps to develops the strategy and planning of the Site Management activities;
  • Ensures the smooth running of the Site Management program under his/her responsibility and ensures compliance with the objectives defined in the project proposal;
  • Follows the indicators defined, reports to his/her supervisor, reports any difficulties encountered in the implementation and proposes improvements or reorientation if necessary;
  • Ensure Complain Feedback Mechanism(CFM) exists and operates at the sites and is involved in improving the mechanism both at the operational level of implementation and in inter-partner monitoring and communication;
  • Ensures the implementation of the monitoring and/or evaluation, according to the needs defined by the project;
  • Ensures that all documents produced within the project/s are properly archived and that the sources of verification mentioned in the project proposal/s are available;
  • Ensures that the human, financial and logistical means of his/her project are in adequacy with the needs. If there is a discrepancy, he/she alerts the coordination team and participates in identifying solutions;
  • Any other task assigned by line Manager.

Relationships

  • S/he will report to Team Leader- Coordination.

Required Educational Qualification and Experiences

Education

  • Master’s in environmental science/ sociology, URP or equivalent degree in relevant subject.

Experience

  • 2 years professional experience in humanitarian and/or development programs and in the relevant field.
  • Experience in CCCM/Site Management is highly desired.
  • Experience in community mobilization and DRR will be added benefit.

Required Competencies

  • Knowledge and understanding of the complexity related to refugee situations;
  • Proficiency in English is obligatory, ability to speak the local Chittagong dialect is a plus.
