Project Summary

Over 1 million of Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Citizen (with the majority comprising women and children), took shelter in camps in Cox’s Bazar in southern Bangladesh on August 2017. The Government of Bangladesh, together with national and international partners, have pro‐actively responding to this crisis with a massive humanitarian response, allocating 2,000 acres of land and coordinating and providing critical assistance such as food, nutrition, shelter, water, health & hygiene, and psycho‐social and basic education services to the camps, settlements and host communities.

ActionAid is implementing site management activities in Camp 11 and 12 funded by IOM. Besides, ActionAid have few ongoing programmes in different sectors e.g. Protection, WASH, NFI etc. inside the camps. As a response agency since September 2017, ActionAid has developed relationships with a range of camp actors, including the Rohingya and their representatives and successfully doing the site management role. ActionAid is working with IOM to address critical humanitarian gaps and need through site management by coordination & collaboration with different stakeholders. Information management, linking community with different service providers, camp operations, and DRR and site improvement are the major activities of site management project.

Key responsibilities include (not limited to)

  • Playing an active role in selection of households as project beneficiaries;
  • Contributing in different community level assessment conduction;
  • Maintaining coordination between project implementation team and plant operation team;
  • Distributing reagents for WaSH facilities;
  • Assisting Project Engineer in Facilities repairing, Water/Sludge test conduction; including sample collection to test conduction at field level and laboratory level;
  • Supporting project Engineer in building capacity of local community and plant; operation team in safe water, waste (solid and faecal) disposal and management;
  • Providing critical inputs and opinions to the Project Lead in determining the selection of appropriate technology and work plan of the organization in that region;
  • Collecting field level data, data compilation and reporting.
  • Any other task assigned by the line manager.

Relationships

H/She will report to Team Leader.

Required Educational Qualification and Experiences

Education

  • An undergraduate degree in any relevant discipline (four-year curriculum), preferably in Social Science.

Experience

  • Proven working experience in field-based activities for at least 01 year.
  • Work experience in humanitarian response will be given preference.
  • Educational qualifications can be flexible for experienced candidates

Required Competencies

  • Good interpersonal skills including ability to gain trust and build relationships.
  • Ability to speak the local Chittagong dialect is a plus.
