JOB TITLE: COMMUNICATION SPECIALIST         JOB LOCATION: DHAKA

REPORT TO: CHIEF OF PARTY                                           DURATION: JANUARY 2019 TO JUNE 2020

COMMUNICATION SPECIALIST

We are seeking a Communication Specialist for our USAID Feed the Future Livestock Production for Improved Nutrition Project. The project seeks to impact rural household nutrition by improving the utilization of livestock products and food security. The Communication Specialist will implement communication strategy, provide guidance and lead in rolling out a communication plan to materialize communication plan.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement project communications strategy, delivers key indicators and milestones against the plan.
  • Designee appropriate positioning, messaging, and dissemination strategies for the activity.
  • Oversees the quality and frequency of all activity messaging to the donors, relevant government entities, private partners, beneficiaries, media and other key audiences.
  • Lead implementation of projects social behavior change communications and marketing using media platform including websites, publications, public events, campaigns and workshops.
  • Identify and maintain “communication staff” group in the project and ensure/encourage information sharing amongst project staff. Train project staff to strengthen communication and presentation skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, business communication, public relations or a related field.
  • Minimum of two to three years of experience in progressively responsible roles, developing communications strategies and working with domestic and international media outlets.
  • Knowledge of emerging media technologies and social media (Twitter, YouTube etc.); with proficiency in design and visual media. Technical skills in photo and video shooting and editing experience will be added an advantage.
  • Creativity and initiative in identifying public affairs opportunities. Ability to coordinate with appropriate stakeholders including knowledge and experience liaising with GoB, NGO counterparts and development partners.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and software such as Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator and other PR related. 
  • Fluency in English and Bangla written and oral.
