Deputy Managing Director

Essentials duties and responsibilities

  • Develop and implement business strategy, objectives and other support systems (operating manual, standard operating procedures, etc.) in line with bank’s vision; including monitoring mechanisms in managing assigned areas of responsibilities and ensure that such plans and strategies are regularly reviewed to meet changing circumstances.
  • To develop and recommend management annual budget that support the bank’s long term strategy in assigned areas of responsibilities with a view to ensuring increased and continuous operational performance of the bank.
  • Effective development and utilization of staff in assigned areas of responsibilities and maintaining a management style that foster and promote co-operation, team work, commitment, and ensuring optimal level of performance of subordinates.
  • Developing, managing and executing the operational plans based on strategic plans set and agreed with the Board and MD/CEO.
  • Agreeing company-wide performance objectives and monitor progress of corporate strategy, financial and operational goals and report performance.
  • Must be well connected in the banking and business professional network
  • Able to develop and implement banking operations, risk management and governance strategies to meet organizational needs and establish a high quality performance standard.
  • Good knowledge of banking process and Information Technology
  • Excellent knowledge of Credit and trade finance operations
  • Sound knowledge of regulatory requirements including Basel-II and Basel-III

Required knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Minimum 25 years banking experience with minimum 2 years experience in the senior management position as SEVP in banking sector and in more than one discipline & previous operational and business unit with key experience in core banking functions and management of multiple stakeholders.
  • Must have minimum 5 (five) years experience in branch level in managerial position
  • Age not exceeding 55 years as on 20 March 2015
  • Comprehensive understanding of banking transaction process relevant to products and services offered to customers
  • Excellent knowledge of global issues and its impact on economy and bank
  • Excellent people management skill, including team building, motivation, demanding accountability and the ability to explore team expertise to full business potential
  • Excellent communication, presentation and inter personal and leadership skills.

Head of Retail Banking: VP-EVP

Head of Retail Banking will be responsible for the oversight of the retail business line, branch network, Work Place banking and all initiatives to assure successful service delivery and strategy fulfillment. Responsibilities of the position include deposit and lending services, new product research and development, customer service and loyalty delivery systems, employee enrichment, education and training, performance management, annual cost/benefit analysis of existing products, preparation of detailed reports for committee and board meetings and related regulatory compliance.

Essentials duties and responsibilities

  • The individual in this role is expected to apply full knowledge of banking operations and best practice management techniques to provide for effective and efficient management of all branches within the bank. Individuals must maintain knowledge and awareness of current bank deposit, lending, services, operations, marketing and personnel-related policies.
  • Responsible to effectively recommend and participate in all personnel actions regarding assigned employees and to assure that assigned personnel, equipment and space are utilized in the most effective and efficient manner.
  • Participates in planning and budgeting and maintains awareness of economic factors effecting the achievement of established organizational goals.
  • Assess market conditions, define, recommend, implement and monitor retail banking strategy in order to gain and sustain the bank’s competitive edge and results.
  • Review control the branches operating costs within the budget in order to maintain cost control.
  • Implement and follow up market intelligence, and marketing plans in order to meet retail banking strategic objectives.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities

Master’s degree in the field of business management, finance or economics and at least 15 years progressively responsible bank management experience with specific emphasis in retail banking, administration and regulatory compliance.

  • Requires supervisory experience of 10+ years in a similar work situation (preferably branch leadership of a 20+ office region), including demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate and organize service delivery, establish goals and objectives while mentoring and developing staff. Effectively coordinate, organize and delegate work duties
  • Age not exceeding 50 years as on 20 March 2015
  • Requires ability to gather, analyze and prepare sophisticated reports related to branch efficiencies
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize management and leadership best practices to plan, direct, schedule and review the work performance of assigned employees in a manner conducive to proficient performance and high morale
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in corporate and / or retail banking. 
  • Excellent understanding and experience of banking processes, products and services

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly form working relationships and gain credibility with a wide selection of staff from different levels and disciplines
