Job Title: Sous chef

Reporting To: Head chef.
Responsible For: commis chef and all subordinate kitchen staff.
Cuisine type: continental and modern American.

Job Responsibilities& Duties:

  • To deputies in the head chefs absence.
  • Assist in maintaining hygiene requirements and knowledge about culinary hygiene.
  • To constantly update knowledge and skill for creative cooking and a ability to experimenting new food items. 
  • Coordinate and participate in the activities of chef and other kitchen personal engaged in preparing and cooking, food to ensure efficient and profitable food service.
  • Assist and participate in planning menus and utilization of food surplus and leftovers.
  • Ensuring that the kitchen operators in a timely way that meets our quality standards.
  • Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures.
  • Assist to ensure that sufficient stock of all materials are being kept and stored under the correct condition.
  • Ensure a first in, first out food rotation system and verities all food products are properly dated and organized for quality assurance.
  • Keeps cooking station stocked, especially before and during prime operation hours.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in culinary arts.
  • Must have at least 3 years culinary experience.
  • Leadership/Supervisory experience required.

Computer Skills:

  • Working knowledge of various computer software programs related to culinary industry.
