BACK GROUND

SHALOM is a national faith-based nonprofit development organization of Church of Bangladesh. SHALOM has been working for humanitarian needs and initiating development activities to secure the life and living of the rural and urban poor and disaster vulnerable community since 1971 in Bangladesh. Its outreach programme covers almost 150,000 people in 16 districts.

Presently, SHALOM is looking for a competent development professional who is committed to make a difference and ready to work in an innovative and challenging environment.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities and job specifications are related to implementing Comprehensive Development Programme (CDP). Although the position is based at Dhaka, almost 10-15 days of field visit should be required a monthly. The major responsibilities to be undertaken are:

Responsible for the financial state & viability of CDP, which includes:

  • Mobilizing resources to ensure the financial solvency for the organization;
  • Overseeing and executing all fundraising events for CDP and microfinance; and
  • Setting work plan and budget to realize the objectives of CDP

Oversees internal and external effective communication, which includes:

  • Seeing that the management and development partners kept fully informed on the condition of the organization and all-important factors influencing it;
  • Establishing sound working relationships and partnerships with community groups, co-agencies, and partner organizations; and
  • Representing/serving as contact person of SHALOM to all including development partners, government organizations, and other agencies.

Provides leadership and staff development, which includes:

  • Recruiting, motivating, and managing SHALOM team for a dynamic intervention;
  • Ensuring that proper job descriptions are developed, regular performance evaluations are held, and staff are treated accordingly; and
  • Maintaining a climate that attracts, keeps, and motivates a talented group of individuals

Responsible for overall operations and growth of the organization, which includes:

  • Regularly reviewing and implementing strategies to improve the programs, events, and services offered through Community Connections;
  • Overseeing the expansion of programs to new areas in needs;
  • Working closely with the management to set and implement strategic plans.

QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL

Education

  • Advanced university degree (Master or equivalent) in any disciplines preferably in Social Science from any public university or reputed private universities have standard like BRAC University.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years progressively responsible for programme/projects implementation and management towards poverty reduction and capacity building with diverse components.
  • Experienced in proposal writing, progress report writing and effective communication with donor/partners and other government and non-government agencies in relation to programme management.
  • Strategical skill in portfolio management and fund mobilization.
  • Experienced in Programme/project planning and result-based M&E.
  • Sound knowledge in INGO and NGO regulations and rules.
  • Experienced in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Office 2010 and/or newer versions) is required.

Language

  • With proficient communication in Bangla, fluency in English is essential being must able to effectively communicate in both oral and written form.

  • Prior experience working in Christian faith based development organization in leadership position is an advantage.

SALARAY AND OTHER BENEFIT
Salary and other benefits are negotiable and commensurate with quality and experience of the candidate.
