Technical Manager
(includes QA, Garment/ Fabric role)

Scope of the role

• To lead the M&S technical function at the Bangladesh Sourcing office to ensure our suppliers are able to deliver the technical and business performance required by M&S.
• Maintain up to date knowledge and close relationship with the key fabric and garment industry in the region covered.

Accountabilities

• Ensuring team resources are used effectively to manage the auditing, preproduction, pilots and factory assessment requirements
• Communicating effectively with the UK technical team to update on key trends and issues and receive direction.
• Developing industry knowledge and expertise of the region to advise UK technical teams
• Support the clothing sourcing strategy by ensuring our products are sourced from efficient capable and socially responsible supply chains
• Create and exploit strong industry links to deliver knowledge on quality and innovation
• Ensure the relevant documentation and budgets are managed so the office runs smoothly
• To manage, coach and develop a team of technologists and QA engineers.

Experience Required

• At least 10 years technologist experience with a ‘blue chip' retailer or supplier including at least 5 years in a position managing people.
• Good knowledge of global technical complexities associated with the production and quality management of merchandise
• In depth technical knowledge and experience of both fabric and garment construction
