Fabric Technologist

Job Description / Responsibility

  • Conducting a tech pack review &risk analysis of new fabrics with focus on Aesthetics, performance & durability.
  • Identify testing & due diligence requirements based on type of fabric , end use & process route.
  • Raising specs for the new fabrics in consultation with UK technologists based on M&S performance standards and test results.
  • Assess supplier capabilities and provide inputs to the commercial teams in terms of sourcing the right fabric from the right source.
  • Work closely with the Fabric Manager, commercial teams and factories to extend support in product development & costing.
  • Screen Lab dips, Fabric Hangers, Color continuity cards& test reports before forwarding to the Head office for conformity against approved standards.
  • Carryout Fabric Pre-production meeting with fabric mills and agree on quality standards.
  • Commercial acceptability or non-acceptability of test results.
  • Mill Evaluation, Supplier training& performance management through continuous feed back and periodic review of mill performance and work towards continuous improvement in fabric quality.
  • Maintain the most updated Fabric Hanger library and relevant information at all times.
  • Trouble shooting.

Educational Requirements

Textile Graduate from a reputed university.

Experience Requirements

Minimum of 2-3 years in the retail industry in similar position & 2-3 years in a fabric mill.

Additional Job Requirements

  • Excellent Spoken -written English & Bangla Language skills.
  • Should be a computer literate and be proficient in MS Office and E-mail communication.
  • Good Knowledge of Local & International Yarn & Fabric supply base is essential.
  • Knowledge of Hazardous Chemicals & RSL (Restricted Substance List)
  • Knowledge of different types of Jersey, Knitwear, woven fabrics incl Denims, prints, & washing (wet & dry processes).
  • Fabric price and lead time negotiation skills would be an added advantage.
  • Exposure to Color Assessment using Spectro-photometer would be an advantage.
  • Should be a Bangladeshi National.
