Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH provides services worldwide in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is our main commissioning party, but we also work with the private sector, fostering successful interaction between development policy and foreign trade.

GIZ invites ‘request for bid’ from reputable firms to conduct “Rapid assessment of workplace injury compensation practices in the leather sector”. The minimum qualification of interested firms can be determined by followings:

Required qualification

  • The consulting firm to be assigned for the project should have minimally five (05) years of experiences in conducting study and/ research in the area of  Economic Policy, Labour Issues, Strategic Planning pertaining to the leather sector.
  • The consultant/s to be assigned for the project, should have experiences in designing and conducting study/ research on labour issues as follows;
    • Principal Investigator (5 years)
    • Study Coordinator (5 years)
    • Enumerator/s (2 years)
  • The consulting firm should have well understanding about structure of leather sector comprising  tanneries, finished leather and footwear as well as trade unions and labour representative in the sector
  • The consulting firm must have the thorough understanding about Bangladesh Labour Act 2006 (2013) ,rules 2015 and relevant schedules  especially clauses pertaining to compensation to workers for workplace injuries, fatalities and occupational diseases
  • The consulting firm should have good rapport with leather sector factories comprises tanneries, finished leather and footwear in Bangladesh
  • The consulting firm preferably have prior work experience/s with GIZ

Firms with these pre-requisite qualifications should also provide the following documents along with their Expression of Interest (EOI):

  • Company Brochure
  • List of current client companies being serviced by the company
  • All up-to-date Trade License document, with Tax Certificate
  • CVs of all experts to be engaged for the assignment

Interested parties can collect the detailed Terms of Reference (ToR) and Assessment Grid by email through contract-bangladesh@giz.de.  

Interested parties with relevant and proven experience shall Submit Technical and Financial Proposal by 1st March, 2018 in separate sealed envelopes to the reception desk of PO Box 6091, Gulshan 1, Dhaka-1212, and Bangladesh. The envelopes shall be addressed to “Contracts, Procurement & IT Unit” denoted with remark “83281651-conducting Rapid assessment of workplace injury compensation practices in the leather sector”.

GIZ reserve the right to accept or reject the offer in part or full without assigning any reason whatsoever.
