COUNTRY MANAGER – BANGLADESH

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to Damco IBS area CEO, you will have overall strategic, organizational and financial responsibility for the Damco Bangladesh Country Operations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Holds direct P&L responsibility for all Damco business activities in Bangladesh
  • Accountable to manage, develop and expand the Damco business, providing direction and leadership to ensure profitable growth with satisfactory cash flow
  • Establish operations that deliver industry leading service standards that facilitate market leadership in target sectors
  • Optimize the utilization of business assets and human resources in accordance with the Damco business strategy and local business environment
  • Collaborate effectively with all relevant internal and external parties for the best interests of the DAMCO organization and the APMM group as a whole
  • Develop personal relationships with key strategic clients to ensure business retention and growth and to act as a focal point for client escalations if necessary
  • Enable and facilitate the provision of services that meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Provide leadership and management of the Damco team in Bangladesh  driving strategy execution and product management whilst ensuring high employee morale and motivation
  • Work with area and regional stakeholders to agree business targets, discuss performance and understand local market dynamics
  • Represent and promote Damco with all necessary local trade associations, government and regulatory bodies
  • Lead the annual business planning and budgeting processes to develop aggressive but realistic plans that support the agreed strategies and targets
  • Ensure that appropriate operational, commercial and financial KPI’s are employed across the business to provide timely and effective reporting to support day-to-day management of the business
  • Actively champion and promote improvements in the organization
  • Drive strategic investments in the area to support the continued growth, profitability and sustainability of the business
  • Ensure the financial well-being of the company from a legal, statutory and APMM group perspective
  • Ensure all area and regional policies and procedures are effectively implemented and adhered to
  • Ensure key opportunities are appropriately resourced and positioned with clients for closure.
  • Portray a positive culture within the Damco Office which promotes continuous improvement, incorporating the APM Values
  • Work with Area Human Resources on talent management and succession planning initiatives
  • Focus your efforts on tasks that will ultimately result in improvements to performance in the key priority areas of: Profitability, Employee engagement, Customer satisfaction, Growth, Productivity, DSO and Operational Excellence
  • Support and reflect company commitment to quality accreditation, environmental consciousness and a safe work environment.
  • Implement KPI’s to monitor productivity in a World Class Forwarding Environment.
  • Conduct customer visits as required. Achieve agreed target score in all key priorities. Live and promote our Values to all staff
  • Performs other position related duties as specified by management
Qualifications/Skills Requirement

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years Industry experience in international freight forwarding.
  • Experience in a commercial and/or operational role (preferably both)
