Senior System Engineer

What you will be responsible for

• Installing, configuring, updating, Troubleshooting and maintaining servers and databases including the cloud based ones (AWS, Rackspace etc.);
  
• A good understanding of system architecture, software and database management systems, web servers (Apache, nginx, nodejs, Tomcat, Jetty), Databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Mongo, Oracle, MSSQL, DB2, ) etc.
  
• Managing Domain Controllers - Godaddy, Moniker etc.
  
• Familier to the Linux Servers - Redhat, CentOS, Ubuntu (Web Server, Database Server, Mail, DNS, DHCP, FTP) and Shell Scripting.
  
• Installing software, upgrades, security patches , and monitoring
  
• Creating complex query definitions that allow data to be extracted
  
• Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
  
• The ability to work to a high degree of accuracy
  
• The ability to work quickly, under pressure and to deadline
  
• Good communication, presentation and negotiating skills
  
• A good understanding of the Data Protection Act
  
• A willingness to keep up to date with developments in technology
  
• Good analytical and team-working skills

Educational Requirements

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline with proven track record.
  

Additional Job Requirements

• Strong knowledge of database theory & design
  
• Knowledge of structured query language (SQL), e.g. SQL/PSM, Transact-SQL
  
• Understanding of distributed computing architectures, e.g. Client/Server, Internet/Intranet, Enterprise
  
• Understanding of the underlying operating system, e.g. Windows, Unix, Linux etc.
  
• Technical, analytical, interpersonal and organization skills required
  
• Strong knowledge of Servers, workstations, VMware, Citrix, anti-virus and other various software applications.
  
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
