System Engineer

What you will be responsible for

• Installing, configuring, updating, Troubleshooting and maintaining server network and server related software/ hardware;
  
• Maintaining software applications, operating systems and regular maintenance.
  
• Different types of Database Administration
  
• Supervising the administration of systems and servers related network to ensure availability of services to authorized users.
  
• Replacing failed hardware and addressing system problems;
  
• Installing software upgrades and security patches, and monitoring;
  
• Working with a global team, providing Network-/ Security Services on a high level of quality
  
• Any other duties as assigned by management

Educational Requirements

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline

Additional Job Requirements

• Strong knowledge of database theory & design
  
• Knowledge about the RDBMS, e.g. Oracle Database, IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, Adaptive Server Enterprise, MaxDB, PostgreSQL, Cassandra etc.
  
• Knowledge of structured query language (SQL), e.g. SQL/PSM, Transact-SQL
  
• Understanding of distributed computing architectures, e.g. Client/Server, Internet/Intranet, Enterprise
  
• Understanding of the underlying operating system, e.g. Windows, Unix, Linux, z/OS
  
• Understanding of storage technologies, memory management, disk arrays, NAS/SAN, networking
  
• General understanding of routine maintenance, recovery, and handling failover.
  
• Technical, analytical, interpersonal and organization skills required
  
• Advanced networking skill; detail understanding of TCP/IP
  
• Understanding in Routing and Switching protocols
  
• Wireless technologies and protocols
  
• VPN technologies (IPSec and SSL) desirable
• Knowledge of Servers, workstations, VMware, Citrix, anti-virus and other various software applications
  
• Knowledge of Amazon Web Services, Rackspace etc.
  
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
